How to Prepare for Your Newborn Photography Session
Your newborn session is one of the most beautiful — and brief — windows of your child's life. Within days, those tiny curled fingers will uncurl, the scrunchy newborn face will soften, and those sleepy poses will be a memory. That's why preparation matters.
The Golden Window: Days 5–14
The first 14 days are when newborns are most sleepy and pliable — they naturally curl into the poses that create those iconic, tender images. We always recommend booking during your second trimester and provisionally scheduling your session for around day 7–10 after your due date.
Feeding Before Your Session
A fed baby is a happy (and sleepy) baby. Feed your newborn as close to your session start time as possible — ideally within 30 minutes of arriving. We'll have plenty of breaks during the session, and you're encouraged to feed on demand throughout.
Keep Baby Warm
We keep the studio at a cosy 24–26°C (75–78°F) to ensure baby stays warm and settled during naked and wrap poses. Dress your little one in loose, easy-to-remove clothing on session day.
What to Wear — For Parents
We recommend neutral, muted tones — creams, ivories, soft greys, dusty blues, or sage greens. Avoid busy patterns or bright colours that will compete with baby. Fitted, comfortable layers work beautifully. We have a full wardrobe available if you'd like guidance.
Bringing Siblings
Siblings are warmly welcome! We typically photograph them at the beginning of the session before they get restless. Have a small snack and a quiet activity ready for them during the solo baby portion.
What We Provide
Our studio is fully stocked with wraps, headbands, bonnets, baskets, bean bags, and dozens of coordinating prop sets. You don't need to bring anything — just your baby and your love.
